SWSoft has just released Plesk 8.2. While most of the new features apply to the Windows version, there are several improvements of interest to Linux users. As expected, Plesk now supports RHEL 5.
Kaspersky AntiVirus
The Kaspersky Antivirus is now available as an add-on that can be managed within Plesk. KAV can filter attachments via name and MIME type and scan incoming and outgoing messages. Note that like DrWeb, Kaspersky AntiVirus is an add-on that requires purchase of a separate license, available through Plesk. You can purchase a license within the control panel or via the Plesk Store. Pricing for Kaspersky starts at $169 for 100 mailboxes but deep discounts are available for more mailboxes. Licenses are available for up to 10000 mailboxes.
Ruby Update
The Ruby component used with Plesk has now been updated to 1.8.6. This is the latest version of Ruby released in March of this year.
Horde Upgrade
Plesk 8.2 also includes an upgrade of Horde and its components to the latest versions released earlier this year.
In addition to these new features, Plesk has added a number of new applications to the Application Vault including Joomla, MediaWiki, and Drupal. As of Plesk 8.1.1, the MIVA Merchant module has also been available for Plesk Linux users.
